Variance Component Decomposition for Growth Traits of the Bay Scallop (Argopecten irradians irradians)

چکیده
The bay scallop ( Argopecten irradians ) is one of the most important shellfish species in China. Since their introduction into China, only mass selection has been used breeding. With its gradual expansion and shortage mate selection, population homozygosity increased, fitness decreased. To investigate effects inbreeding provide reference for improving breeding strategies mating management, variance components growth traits were decomposed with genomic relationship matrices. results indicated that genetic variations shell height length mainly accounted by additive effects. variation width was caused dominance or dominance-by-dominance epistasis. body weight dominance. No significant directional dominances detected all traits. Cross-validation prediction showed including insignificant model not necessary, we suggest should be optimized both likelihood ratio tests cross-validation before utilization practice.

Genetic linkage map of bay scallop, Argopecten irradians irradians (Lamarck 1819)
The bay scallop (Argopecten irradians irradians Lamarck 1819) has become one of the most important aquaculture species in China. Genetic improvement of cultured bay scallop can bene¢t greatly from a better understanding of its genome. In this study, we developed ampli¢ed fragment length polymorphisms (AFLPs) and simple sequence repeat markers from expressed sequence tags (EST-SSRs) for linkage ...
متن کاملMyofibril of the Bay Scallop, Aequipecten irradians
Localization and quantification studies were carried out on bay-scallop (Aequipecten irradians) striated-muscle troponin Cand troponin I-like proteins. Indirect immunofluorescence microscopy of scallop myofibrils stained with either rabbit anti-(scallop troponin I) or anti-(scallop troponin C) antibodies shows staining of all I-bands observed. The results of quantification studies using sodium ...
متن کاملLoss of allele diversity in introduced populations of the hermaphroditic bay scallop Argopecten irradians
The bay scallop Argopecten irradians is a hermaphroditic bivalve native to the Atlantic coast of the United States that was introduced to China for aquaculture production in 1982. It now supports a major aquaculture industry in China. Introduced species often start with limited genetic variability, which is problematic for the further selective breeding. Bay scallop aquaculture is exclusively h...
متن کاملEffect of the Algaecide Palmitoleic Acid on the Immune Function of the Bay Scallop Argopecten irradians.
Palmitoleic acid (PA), an algicidal compound, is used against the toxin producing dinofagelate Alexandrium tamarense, however, its impact on the edible bay scallop (Argopecten irradians) is still unclear. Therefore, we investigated the impacts of effective algicidal concentrations (20, 40, and 80 mg/L) of PA on immune responses in A. irradians. Various immune parameters including acid phosphata...
متن کاملShell Growth in the Scallop Argopecten Irradians. I. Isotope Incorporation with Reference to Diurnal Growth.
1. Incorporation of calcium and carbonate into shell has been studied in the scallop Argopecten irradians using 45Ca and 14C-bicarbonate. 2. The incorporation of 45Ca and 14C-carbonate into shell was linear with time after a lag period of 1 to 2 hours. The shell-forming mantle tissue attained a steady state with respect to 45Ca in the sea water medium within 2 hours. 3. The molar ratio of 45Ca ...
